Ivanka Neeleman
Ivanka Neeleman studied viola da gamba with Freek Borstlap and Wieland Kuijken. Her interpretations of the gamba arias in the St. Matthew Passion are greatly admired: ‘She played the viola da gamba as it is rarely heard: remarkable solo playing with a natural grace'.
Her great passion is playing English consort music with the ensemble The Spirit of GAMBO. With her musicality, she conveys the passion of music to young children and adults. Ivanka regularly gives viola da gamba workshops in Belgium, England, and Germany. She has gamba students in the music school in Leiden, and she teaches at the John F. Kennedy Montessori school in The Hague.
Joining choreographers Leine en Roebana, Ivanka Neeleman and Freek Borstlap created dance perfomances with live music for the group S/He en Sporen. Sporen has performed in theaters in the Netherlands, Germany, and the United States. Ivanka is also regularly invited by Capilla Flamenca, Brisk, and Camerata Trajectina.
